Our team, Toaster Co., participated in the program to create a tool for journalists who need animated GIFs.
Challenge
For modern journalism, data visualization is an essential tool that enhances storytelling. Google News Lab wanted to provide journalists, bloggers, and businesses with a way to visualize data sets effectively.
Results
The Data GIF Maker produces visualizations that are engaging, customizable, scalable, and HD-rendered in real-time. An onboarding flow for first-time users and tooltips throughout the site explains the various functions of the tool.
It is now featured as a free resource in the Google News Initiative training center, ultimately helping to keep communities informed with quality journalism.
